Activity 3: Words Shape Character
WORDS SHAPE CHARACTERMany times what you say to your child is what he will become. If you say he is lazy enough times he may believe it and act that way. Most parents say they want their child to grow up to be successful, get along with their peers, and be able to take care of themselves. However, parents must use words that reflect how they want their children to act later in life. For this reason, we have defined the positive words that appear in the Big Box, Little Box book and animated DVD. Practice these Simple Rules....1.) Call your child by his name (not a negative name).2.) If you want your child to practice a certain behavior, you must practice the same behavior.3.) Compliment your child when he demonstrates the behavior you expect. Emphasize the positives.4.) Monitor television programs and video games. Encourage your child to watch programs that model the behavior you expect.

Activity 5: Potential Delivery Company
POTENTIAL DELIVERY COMPANYLet you children pretend that they are employees of the Potential Delivery Company. Gather boxes of all shapes and sizes. Then have your children write positive labels and/or negative labels on each box. Let them sort the labels, putting the positive ones in one pile and the negative ones in another.Help the children place boxes with positive labels in a wagon, large box, or storage container. Let each child pretend to deliver the boxes to homes. If you don't have boxes, use sheets of paper, in different shapes and sizes. If more than one child is playing the Potential Delivery Game, one can be the driver. The other child can serve as a helper and deliver the load. Very young children can use blocks for boxes.
